Those statements can be true but as builders of homes in the UK and USA we can tell you that most of the homes we see and recomend are beautifully built with the latest building codes reflecting the potential of serious weather conditions.

The homes that we see are typically built from block on the ground floor (referred to as the first floor in the US) and timber to the 1st floor (called the second floor in the US) so how's that for confusion.

Because lots of items like roof trusses are manufactured off site they are factory quality as are other items like the internal doors and frames which come as a set very clever stuff!!!

Area's to look out for are windows as the frames are not very substantial and the big items are mould, and termites who can eat a house from the inside out.
